Happy National Adoption Day 2023!

Today was National Adoption Day and I was honored to participate! As a passionate photographer (who also happens to have an adoptive brother who I love dearly) with a heart dedicated to documenting the beautiful journey of adoption, I find immense joy and fulfillment in every frame that tells a story of love, acceptance, and the formation of a new family!

Photographing adoptions is a huge honor! It allows me to witness and capture true unconditional love. Adoption is a transformative journey for both the adoptive parents, the child, foster families and birth families. Adoption transcends cultural, racial, and geographical boundaries, fostering diversity and inclusivity. I am passionate about capturing the diversity of families that form through adoption, showcasing the beauty of different backgrounds coming together.

One of the most rewarding aspects of adoption photography is the opportunity to capture a series of "firsts" – the first hug, the first smile, the family entering the world through the courthouse doors for the first time! These moments are incredibly precious, and my role as a photographer is to freeze these instances in time, ensuring that the families I work with can revisit and cherish these milestones for years to come.

Beyond the personal joy I derive from photographing adoptions, I see my work as a medium for raising awareness about the beauty and challenges of adoption. By sharing these stories through social media or my blog, I hope to contribute to a more informed and empathetic society, dispelling myths surrounding adoption and encouraging open conversations.

Photographing adoptions is not just a job for me. It's a chance to be a storyteller capturing the moments that define the beginning of a family's journey. Through my lens, I aim to spread love, celebrate diversity, and show the love of adoption. I am grateful to play a small part in preserving these timeless stories!
