Your wedding day is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and finding the right photographer to document every magical moment is crucial. Whether you’re planning a grand celebration or an intimate ceremony in Norwood, Massachusetts or surrounding towns and Boston, choosing a photographer who understands your vision, style, and personality is essential. To help you navigate this important decision, here are the top 10 tips for selecting the perfect wedding photographer for your big day. 1. Define Your Wedding Photography Style - Before diving into your search, take time to explore different wedding photography styles. Do you prefer classic, posed portraits? Or are you drawn to candid, documentary-style shots that capture the raw emotions of the day? Maybe you love the dreamy, romantic look of fine art photography. Once you identify your preferred style, it will be easier to find a photographer whose portfolio aligns with your vision. 2. Start Your Search Early - Top photographers often book weddings a year or more in advance, especially during peak wedding seasons in Norwood and the surrounding areas. Begin your search as soon as you set your wedding date to ensure the best chance of securing your first-choice photographer. 3. Check Their Portfolio - A professional photographer’s portfolio is their visual resume. Look for a diverse range of images that reflect their skill and creativity. Pay attention to how they capture details like lighting, angles, and candid moments. If their work resonates with you, they might be the right fit for your wedding. 4. Read Reviews and Ask for References - Reviews from other couples provide invaluable insight into a photographer’s professionalism, reliability, and personality. Browse reviews on their website, social media pages, or platforms like The Knot and WeddingWire. Don’t hesitate to ask the photographer for references from past clients if you’d like to hear firsthand experiences. 5. Meet Them in Person or Virtually - Your photographer will be with you throughout your wedding day, so it’s essential to feel comfortable around them. Schedule a meeting—either in person or virtually—to discuss your plans and see if your personalities click. A good connection can lead to more natural, relaxed photos. 6. Review Their Wedding Packages - Wedding photography is an investment, and understanding what’s included in your chosen photographer’s packages is crucial. Many photographers in Norwood offer customizable packages, allowing you to choose services that suit your needs. This may include engagement sessions, additional hours, a second photographer, or an album. Be clear on what’s included and whether there are additional costs for travel or overtime. 7. Prioritize Local Expertise - A photographer familiar with Norwood, Massachusetts, will know the best locations for stunning portraits, whether it’s a scenic park, historic landmark, or your venue’s hidden gem. Their local knowledge can save time and add a personal touch to your wedding album. 8. Confirm Their Experience and Backup Plans - Experience matters when it comes to capturing weddings. A seasoned photographer knows how to adapt to changing lighting, unpredictable weather, or last-minute schedule shifts. Ask about their backup plans—whether they bring spare equipment or have a second shooter on standby—so you can trust that your day will be stress-free. 9. Pay Attention to Contracts and Policies - Your photographer should provide a clear, detailed contract outlining their services, delivery timelines, cancellation policies, and payment schedules. Reviewing these terms ensures there are no surprises later and gives you peace of mind. 10. Trust Your Gut - At the end of the day, trust your instincts. If a photographer’s work excites you and their personality aligns with yours, you’re likely to enjoy working with them. Your comfort and confidence in their abilities will shine through in your photos. Final Thoughts - Finding the perfect wedding photographer in Norwood, Massachusetts, is a journey of discovering who can bring your vision to life while ensuring your memories are preserved beautifully. With careful research and these tips in mind, you’ll be able to select a photographer who not only meets your expectations but exceeds them. Remember, your wedding photos will be cherished for a lifetime—choose someone whose artistry and approach align with your dream day. Top Boston Wedding Photography Trends Predicted for 2025: Insights from Aprea Media As wedding photographers based in Norwood, Massachusetts, we at Aprea Media have spent years capturing love stories in their most beautiful and authentic forms. As a husband-and-wife team, we understand the importance of staying ahead of trends to offer our couples the most creative and timeless photography options. Looking ahead to 2025, we’re predicting some exciting wedding photography trends that will shape the way love is captured. 1. Vibrant Color Palettes Take Center Stage Gone are the days of strictly neutral tones. Couples in 2025 will embrace vibrant color palettes to reflect their unique personalities and add energy to their celebrations. From bold jewel tones to playful pastels, wedding photography will be filled with vivid hues that bring photos to life.
2. Documentary-Style Storytelling Couples are leaning into authenticity, prioritizing candid, unposed moments that capture the real emotions of their day. Documentary-style photography will continue to dominate as couples seek wedding albums that tell a heartfelt story. Think stolen glances, tearful toasts, and joyful laughter.
3. Dramatic Lighting for Stunning Portraits Lighting has always been a key element of photography, but in 2025, dramatic lighting techniques will take center stage. Expect to see photos with moody shadows, glowing golden hour shots, and creative uses of nighttime lighting to add a sense of drama and romance. One of our favorites for dreary days when we can't sneak away for golden hour pictures (no sunset) is to sneak away for 2 minutes for some direct flash pictures!
4. Personalized Details in Focus Couples are making their weddings more personal than ever, incorporating custom elements like monogrammed decor, heirloom jewelry, and handwritten vows. Photographers will be zooming in on these meaningful details to showcase what makes each wedding truly unique.
5. Black-and-White Elegance Revival In 2025, black-and-white photography is expected to make a strong comeback as couples embrace its timeless and emotive qualities. This classic style enhances the emotional depth of wedding photos by stripping away distractions and focusing on the moment’s essence. Black-and-white photos are particularly stunning for emotional moments like the first look, the vows, and the first dance.
6. Micro-Wedding Focus with Big Style As micro-weddings continue to thrive, couples in 2025 are prioritizing intimate celebrations with grand styling. Smaller guest lists allow for more elaborate decor, unique venues, and personalized touches, resulting in visually stunning photography. This trend emphasizes quality over quantity, giving photographers more opportunities to focus on details and meaningful moments.
7. Incorporating Pets into Wedding DetailsIn 2025, couples are finding creative ways to include their pets in their wedding details, beyond just having them attend the ceremony. From signature cocktails named after their furry friends to pet-themed cake toppers and even faces of their pets on sticks for the dance floor, this trend allows couples to celebrate their love for their animals in unique and fun ways. These thoughtful touches bring personality and humor to the celebration, making the wedding day feel even more personal and memorable.
8. Creative Couples Portraits: Pushing the Boundaries of Wedding PhotographyIn 2025, couples will seek even more creative and unconventional portraits that reflect their unique personalities and add an artistic flair to their wedding albums. Expect to see dramatic veil shots where the fabric flows through the air, playful dress train tosses that capture motion, and stunning elevator portraits that add an element of surprise and luxury. Creative lighting techniques like direct flash night portraits will make evening shots feel bold and cinematic, while fun shots like golf cart portraits and whimsical poses in unexpected locations will add charm and excitement.
9. Interactive Entertainment: Dueling Pianos and Beyond In 2025, couples will move away from traditional wedding DJs or bands and opt for more interactive entertainment options, such as dueling pianos, live art performances, or even themed game shows. Dueling pianos, in particular, are gaining popularity as a lively and engaging alternative to a traditional wedding band or DJ. This interactive experience encourages guests to get involved, sing along, and enjoy a dynamic performance that keeps the energy high throughout the evening. Other creative options might include live painters capturing the celebration, or custom trivia games that involve the guests in fun, personalized ways.
10. Breaking Tradition: Embracing Non-Traditional Wedding Elements In 2025, many couples are choosing to forgo traditional wedding elements like bouquet tosses, bridal party introductions, or even having a bridal party altogether. Even more non-traditional is being an expecting couple! We loved incorporating one couple's future baby in their images. This trend reflects the growing desire for a more personalized and relaxed wedding experience, where couples focus on what truly matters to them instead of adhering to outdated expectations. Whether it’s skipping the bouquet toss for a quieter moment, embracing a solo entrance without a bridal party, or simply choosing a smaller celebration with no formal bridal party at all, 2025 will see couples feeling free to break away from tradition to make their wedding day uniquely theirs. We always say - it's your day! Let go of caring about the idea of "what should be."

At Aprea Media, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality corporate photography that captures the professionalism, culture, and unique identity of each business we work with. Based in Boston, Massachusetts, we have had the privilege of collaborating with some of the most influential organizations in the region, including MIT, Bank of America, Marengo Therapeutics, Shannon Cohn (a filmmaker, lawyer, and social movement builder), Addie's Grocery, and the Maison d'Haiti Haiti Project. Our approach is more than just taking photos—it’s about building relationships with our clients to ensure we capture the essence of their work and their team. However, what sets our corporate photography apart is a delicate balance between providing excellent service and adhering to strict confidentiality requirements, often formalized through non-disclosure agreements (NDAs). This company's retreat started with team building exercises, speeches and awards to their employees inside their conference space. This was followed by a clambake, full bar, headshots, lawn games and s'mores by a camp fire. After the incredible sunset over the Boston skyline we boarded the boat back to the Seaport. Corporate Photography and Confidentiality In the corporate world, image and discretion go hand-in-hand. Many of our clients operate in industries where sensitive information is at stake—whether it’s groundbreaking research at MIT, corporate strategy sessions at Bank of America, or innovative biotech developments at Marengo Therapeutics. These businesses trust Aprea Media not only for our photography skills but also for our ability to handle their content with care and confidentiality. NDAs play a pivotal role in these relationships. These legal agreements restrict the sharing of certain information, including images, across public platforms. Often, our corporate photography covers events, internal meetings, product launches, or behind-the-scenes activities that clients prefer to keep out of the public eye, either for competitive reasons or because the projects are still in development. As a result, while we might capture stunning and impactful visuals, we frequently cannot share these images on social media or our website. An example of how the Valiant is set up for a sit-down full meal catered by Johnny Burke Catering. They also can set up for passed hors d'oeuvres and cocktail tables with more standing space. There is room for a small band, musician or DJ as well. Downstairs is another full bar and seating area with couches. The Trust Factor: Why NDAs Are Important For many of our corporate clients, signing an NDA isn’t just a formality—it’s a necessity. Take, for example, our work with MIT, where we document important conferences, research breakthroughs, and lectures. Much of the content we capture involves proprietary information or intellectual property that hasn’t yet been published or patented. Sharing these images could inadvertently reveal information that’s not ready for public dissemination. Similarly, in the financial industry, Bank of America hosts internal meetings and high-profile client gatherings, where discussions around strategy, mergers, acquisitions, and future investments occur. These sessions require absolute confidentiality, which is why we operate under NDAs when photographing their events. Our biotech clients, like Marengo Therapeutics, are at the cutting edge of medical innovation. The pharmaceutical and biotech sectors are particularly sensitive when it comes to proprietary science. Preclinical data, lab environments, and employee collaborations are all moments that we might photograph but are often bound by NDAs to ensure that competitors don’t gain access to privileged information. Shannon Cohn, for instance, is a dynamic force, combining her skills as a filmmaker, lawyer, and social movement builder. Capturing her in action—whether she's on set or at a legal summit—requires discretion, as many of her projects involve sensitive topics and individuals whose identities must be protected. It’s an honor to help document her impactful work while maintaining confidentiality. The Maison d'Haiti Haiti Project is another notable client that focuses on building bridges between Haitian culture and local Boston communities. Photographing this project involves documenting products for their website and marketing. These products are beautiful and delicate, hand made by women in Haiti being compensated a real living wage while being provided the textiles to do so. Addie's Grocery was a startup new-concept grocery store in Norwood, Massachusetts that unfortunately didn't end up with the customer base they needed to stay afloat. As a Norwood resident myself I truly miss them! The convenience of grocery pick-up only was incredible. Many of our images were published in local newspapers such as the Boston Globe as well as tech publications. We were so proud to be working with them! Every corporate client has different needs, and our ability to adapt is what makes Aprea Media stand out in the Boston corporate photography scene. We understand that businesses, large and small, need tailored solutions when it comes to photography. For some, it’s about high-profile event coverage, while for others, it’s about capturing the day-to-day moments that make their company culture unique. What remains consistent is our commitment to privacy and professionalism. From large organizations like MIT to rising leaders in the medical and nonprofit sectors like Marengo Therapeutics and the Maison d'Haiti Haiti Project, our job is to make sure that each photo is not just taken, but handled in a way that aligns with the client's expectations and industry standards.
Navigating the Challenges of Corporate Photography One of the more challenging aspects of corporate photography is balancing creative expression with the confidentiality required by NDAs. As photographers, we often want to showcase our best work to attract new clients and grow our portfolio. However, in the corporate world, privacy often takes precedence over promotion. That doesn’t mean our work is any less impactful—it simply means that we build our reputation on trust and word-of-mouth. Clients appreciate our ability to deliver exceptional results while respecting the boundaries they set in place. This trust is essential, and it’s what keeps businesses coming back to Aprea Media time and time again. Why Choose Aprea Media? At Aprea Media, we know how crucial it is for companies to maintain their image while protecting their internal operations. Our clients rely on us to be both invisible and indispensable—capturing the moments that matter without disrupting the flow of their work or sharing their private information. We also strive to have FAST turnaround so that companies have their pictures for their internal press and marketing as soon as possible. If you’re a business in Boston looking for a corporate photographer who understands the importance of confidentiality, we would love to work with you. While we might not always be able to showcase the incredible work we do publicly, the relationships we’ve built and the trust we’ve earned speak volumes. We first met Mikayla & Eric over a Zoom call to see if we were a good fit to work together and we instantly clicked! Between our love of cats and house plants we hit it off immediately! They chose to do their engagement session at L.A. Burdick Chocolate in Harvard Square, where they had their first date! It was a chilly day and they treated me to hot chocolate too, it was so lovely! Naturally they found a way to incorporate L.A. Burdick in their wedding day too! Here is a "sweet" sneak peek into their magical day. Read on for all the details! Getting Ready at The Whitney Hotel, BostonThey made sure they had kitty chocolates as a treat while getting ready! L.A. Burdick only makes these kitties for about a month a year so it was purr-fect timing for their wedding! They also gave out chocolates as their guest gift at each place setting, it was such a lovely touch! Mikayla incorporated their kitties in their detail shots with these beautiful cameos! Two of these kitties are their cats now and one is their angel cat. Mikayla also had some amazing tattoos including one of her cat! Mikayla also used small businesses on Etsy for a lot of their wedding! She had her shoes hand embroidered for the day! I wanted to talk more about where Mikayla & Eric got ready and why we loved it so much compared to other hotels we have worked in! Getting ready for your wedding at the Whitney Hotel in Boston offers a luxurious and charming experience for several reasons:
The First Look & First PortraitsOn the day of their wedding it was HOT and HUMID! Our initial plan was to do their first look and portraits in the Boston Public Garden, however - the humidity especially - quickly made Mikayla & Eric go with plan B - the Whitney Hotel courtyard! It was absolutely stunning! The landscaping felt like a secret garden, it was lush and inviting! After we went back inside to do some more portraits - the elevator and the downstairs lobby have such a boutique feel they made the perfect backdrop. The beautiful blue and gold colors even matched their detail shots! From the Whitney we took an Uber over to the Hampshire House - it is close enough to walk but not in a wedding dress with hair and makeup done on a humid day! The Hampshire House, Beacon Hill, BostonI wanted to really write about all the amazing reasons to book your wedding day at the Hampshire House! It is an exceptional choice for a wedding venue due to its timeless elegance and iconic location. Here are some reasons why Mikayla & Eric chose the Hampshire House for their wedding: 1. Historic and Iconic Setting: The Hampshire House is a stunning mansion with rich history and charm. Situated on Beacon Hill, it offers a blend of classic Boston elegance with architectural beauty that sets the tone for a romantic and timeless wedding. Its iconic location right on Boston Common provides breathtaking views of Boston Public Garden, perfect for photo opportunities. Downstairs is the iconic original "Cheers" bar! In the back of the venue there is an unbelievable spiral staircase available to use for portraits! 2. Luxurious, Grand Interior: The interior of the Hampshire House is known for its luxurious décor, featuring grand chandeliers, ornate woodwork, and classic furnishings. The elegant ballrooms, with their high ceilings, warm wood-paneled walls, and antique detailing, create a sophisticated and memorable setting for both ceremonies and receptions. The architect was the same architect as "The Breakers" in Newport! 3. Customizable Wedding Packages: The venue offers flexibility with customizable wedding packages, allowing couples to tailor every aspect of their special day. Whether it’s a grand affair or an intimate gathering, the Hampshire House provides options for catering, bar services, and event coordination to meet individual preferences and budgets. As vendors even, we had a fantastic experience with the staff there. Everyone was so kind and friendly! 4. Panoramic Views of Boston Public Garden: With large windows overlooking the lush Boston Public Garden, the Hampshire House offers stunning panoramic views that bring the beauty of the outdoors into your event. The location provides a perfect backdrop for photographs and adds a touch of natural splendor to your wedding day. 5. The mansion’s intimate yet grand setting creates an enchanting atmosphere that elevates the wedding experience, making it feel like a fairy tale come to life. 7. This versatility allows you to host every part of your wedding day—from getting ready, to the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception—all in one beautiful, cohesive setting. 8. Easy Access for Guests: Located in the heart of Boston, the Hampshire House is easily accessible for both local and out-of-town guests. Its proximity to various hotels, historical landmarks, and downtown Boston’s attractions makes it convenient for guests to enjoy their time around the wedding festivities. 9. Historic Boston Charm Meets Modern Amenities: While the Hampshire House retains its historic charm, it also offers modern amenities to ensure your wedding is seamless. From updated sound systems and lighting to impeccable service, you’ll have the best of both worlds—classic elegance with contemporary conveniences. Choosing the Hampshire House means having your wedding in a venue that offers sophistication, romance, and a quintessential Boston experience. Its beautiful setting, attention to detail, and exceptional service make it a top choice for couples looking for a dream wedding venue. Even all of their flowers were actually made from paper by an Etsy seller in the Ukraine! We couldn't get over how stunning they were! We were able to do all of their portraits at the Hampshire House in front of the beautiful library wall and fireplace. This is also where the ceremony was held and then turned over during cocktail hour into their reception space! After their cocktail hour everyone returned to the library having been completely transformed into a luxurious space full of warmth and classic beauty! Mikayla & Eric found one more way to incorporate their cats at their wedding - on the dance floor! Their weddings was the most Boston wedding we've ever done and we just loved how much they shopped small and local AND made sure their pets were a part of their big day! We wish we could photograph this wedding day over and over again! If you're looking to book your wedding day at either the Hampshire House or the Whitney Hotel we would love to be your photographers! Congratulations again Mikayla & Eric!
Blog Post: Introducing Our Customizable Wedding Photography Package We’re thrilled to announce exciting updates to our wedding photography packages, designed to offer more flexibility and personalization for our clients. After years of offering a three-tiered package system, we’ve listened to your feedback and are shifting to a more customizable approach. This means you can now tailor your wedding photography experience to fit your unique needs and vision. Why the Change? Over the years, we’ve noticed that most couples gravitated toward our 8-hour package. It seemed to offer the perfect balance between capturing the key moments of the day without overcommitting time or resources. However, not all weddings are the same. Some couples might need extra time to cover elaborate pre-ceremony preparations or extended receptions, while others have more intimate events that don't require a full day of coverage. The need for a more versatile and flexible solution became apparent. With this new customizable structure, you can build a wedding photography package that’s perfectly aligned with your timeline, budget, and priorities. What’s New? 1. Flexible Hours - Our main collection is a base of 8 hours like our most popular package was! Our new approach is the ability to add or remove photography hours based on your wedding day schedule. Whether you're hosting a short, intimate ceremony or a grand, all-day event, you now have the flexibility to decide how much coverage you need. We understand that every wedding is different, and your photography package should reflect that. You can start with a base of 8 hours and easily add more time as your plans evolve (or subtract). This flexibility also allows you to better allocate your budget. By adjusting the hours to fit your exact needs, you won’t feel like you’re overspending on unnecessary coverage, or worse, under-booking and missing key moments. 2. Engagement Sessions (Optional removal) - We still HIGHLY recommend including your engagement session in your package. Engagement sessions are a wonderful way to celebrate your upcoming wedding while getting comfortable in front of the camera. While some couples may feel these sessions are a must, others prefer to focus solely on the wedding day itself. With our new structure, engagement sessions are no longer part of a rigid package—you can remove if you prefer to cut down costs. Please remember, though - engagement sessions are a great way to establish rapport with your photographer, giving you a sense of ease and confidence on your big day. 3. Print Credits - We believe your wedding photos should live beyond the digital screen. That’s why we include them in our base package. HOWEVER - we are giving you the freedom to prioritize how you'd like to relive your wedding memories—whether through a timeless photo album, large framed prints, or having them printed somewhere on your own. We include a $150 print credit currently but this is another option to remove. We still encourage our clients to print the best products possible by using a reputable, calibrated professional printer. A Personalized Experience - Our goal with these changes is to give you control over your wedding photography experience, allowing for a more personalized and stress-free process. Weddings are already full of decisions, and we want to make this part of the planning as seamless as possible. We understand that every couple is different, and your wedding day should reflect your love story. Our customizable packages are designed with that in mind—offering flexibility, personalization, and value. No more one-size-fits-all photography plans; this is your day, and your photography package should suit your vision. Let’s Talk! We’re always here to help you navigate these options and ensure you create the perfect package for your big day. If you have any questions or need guidance, feel free to reach out to us. We’d love to learn more about your wedding plans and help you craft a package that works for you. With these updates, we’re confident that your wedding photography will not only capture the moments that matter but will also align with your specific needs and dreams. Here's to capturing the magic of your love story in the way that suits you best! Book your consultation today, and let’s start customizing your wedding photography experience. A Fairy Tale Wedding at The Commons 1854: Luke and Kelly's Unforgettable DayAs wedding photographers, we've had the privilege of capturing many beautiful love stories, but Luke and Kelly's wedding at The Commons 1854 in Topsfield, Massachusetts, was truly special. Their story is one of love, dedication, and a deep commitment to each other and their country. Luke, active-duty army, and Kelly, his steadfast partner, came all the way from Germany to celebrate their love with family and friends in the charming, historic setting of The Commons 1854, a stunning venue north of Boston in Topsfield, Massachusetts. The Arrival: Coming Home from Germany Luke and Kelly's journey to their wedding day was not a typical one. As an active-duty army Captain stationed in Germany, Luke's schedule was demanding and unpredictable. Despite the challenges, the couple managed to plan a wedding that reflected their love story and honored their journey together. Their commitment to each other was evident as they navigated the complexities of military life, making their wedding day all the more meaningful. The Venue: The Commons 1854 Nestled in the picturesque town of Topsfield, Massachusetts, The Commons 1854 is a venue that exudes elegance and charm. With its rich history and beautifully restored architecture, it provided the perfect backdrop for Luke and Kelly's wedding. The venue's timeless beauty, combined with its modern amenities, made it an ideal choice for a couple who wanted to blend tradition with contemporary flair! Kelly decided all though she got ready at a local hotel (hair and makeup) she wanted to put her dress on in the beautiful bridal suite with her bridal party and mother. This room was stunning!! We especially loved the large mirrors and "fainting" couch. John took this opportunity to do Groom & Groomsmen portraits on the common out front while we kept Kelly hidden inside! A Unique First Look One of the most emotional moments of the day was Kelly's first look—not with Luke, but with her father. This special moment was a testament to the strong bond between Kelly and her dad. As Kelly stepped out in her stunning wedding gown, her father's eyes filled with tears of joy and pride. The intimate father-daughter moment was beautifully captured, and it set the tone for the heartfelt celebrations that followed. The Ceremony: An Outdoor Delight The weather on the day of the wedding was perfect for an outdoor ceremony. The lush gardens of The Commons 1854 were in full bloom, providing a picturesque setting for Luke and Kelly to exchange their vows. The ceremony was quick but filled with love and emotion. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, the couple promised to love and support each other through all of life's adventures. As they exchanged rings and sealed their vows with a kiss, there wasn't a dry eye in the audience. Our favorite part was Luke's reaction to seeing Kelly walk down the aisle! Portraits - Post Ceremony, during cocktail hour. Following their quick ceremony we had close family and bridal party stay at the altar for formal portraits! Right after we had a few moments left to capture some portraits of just the couple together before heading in to the reception for introductions. A Classy Reception After the ceremony, guests were treated to a cocktail hour followed by a classy reception that was meticulously planned to ensure everyone had an unforgettable experience. The venue coordinator, Paige, was an absolute pleasure to work with and we do not say this about every venue! The dining experience was a highlight, featuring a sorbet palette cleanse that added a touch of sophistication to the meal. This delightful interlude was followed by a sumptuous dinner that catered to all tastes, ensuring every guest felt special and appreciated. Slow Dances and Special Moments Immediately after introductions Kelly & Luke had their first dance, something we see at a lot of weddings! They also had their traditional parent dances and additionally which we find more and more rare, they had a few choice slow dances throughout the night! This allowed everyone to have a personal moment on the dance floor, creating an atmosphere of love and celebration. Their DJ, Freddy aka DJ Backspin Entertainment (https://www.djbackspin.com/) was incredible! We highly recommend him, he was so good at keeping the dance floor moving AND their timeline! DJs play such a crucial role in making sure the night is running smoothly, between communicating with Freddy and Paige we had a great experience. Kelly & Luke also did an adorable cake cutting and bouquet toss! It was super fun to see a bouquet toss, we haven't seen one in years! A Private Last Dance As the evening drew to a close, Luke and Kelly shared a private last dance. This intimate moment allowed them to reflect on their day and savor the joy of their union. Away from the hustle and bustle of the reception, they danced under the soft glow of twinkling lights, their love for each other evident in every glance and smile. It was a beautiful reminder that amidst all the celebrations, the most important part of the day was their commitment to each other. A Bubble Send-Off and a Grand Exit The night ended with a magical bubble send-off. Guests lined up with bubble wands, creating a whimsical tunnel for the couple to walk through. The bubbles sparkled in the night air, adding a touch of enchantment to the evening. As Luke and Kelly made their way through the sea of bubbles, their smiles were radiant, and their joy was infectious. Their grand exit was nothing short of spectacular! A classic Rolls Royce awaited them, ready to whisk them away into the night. The elegant car was the perfect choice for such a sophisticated affair, adding a touch of old-world glamour to the evening. As they drove away, waving goodbye to their loved ones, the car's engine purred softly, promising a smooth journey ahead. A Bittersweet Goodbye The very next morning, Luke and Kelly boarded a plane back to Germany. The quick return was a poignant reminder of the sacrifices they make for their country and the strength of their love. Their wedding day was a beautiful respite from their demanding lives, a moment of joy and celebration that they would carry with them as they returned to their duties. It was an honor to capture the many beautiful moments of Luke and Kelly's special day. From the tender first look with Kelly's father to the elegant reception and the magical bubble send-off, every detail was a testament to their love and the careful planning that went into their wedding. The photographs from their day will serve as a lasting reminder of the joy, love, and commitment that Luke and Kelly share. Luke and Kelly's wedding at The Commons 1854 was a true celebration of love, family, and dedication. Despite the challenges of planning a wedding from afar, they created a day that was filled with beautiful moments and unforgettable memories. Their story is a reminder that love can overcome any obstacle, and that true commitment is worth celebrating. As they continue their journey together, they carry with them the love and support of their family and friends, and the beautiful memories of their wedding day! Thank you so much for having us! Introducing the Charles Riverboat Company's new boat - "Happy" - and a tour of their Boston Harbor Vessels! This past Monday night, June 17th, we were invited by the Charles Riverboat Company at Rowe's Wharf (directly under the archway of the Boston Harbor Hotel is the entrance to the ramps leading to their gorgeous vessels) to their open house. We had previously worked on board the "Valiant" yacht for wedding photography last summer and were super excited to climb aboard again! John and I LOVE boats and anything ocean so it's definitely one of our favorite venues. Monday was a special night for wedding vendors, event vendors & corporate event planners - it was a great opportunity for us to network with local companies. We have also worked on board one of the Charles Riverboat Company's Charles River boats that leave from Cambridge for another wedding last summer! Both times we had a phenomenal experience with their staff - both the Charles Riverboat Company's staff and the catering staff from Johnny Burke Catering (more on their food below - YUM - johnnyburkecatering.com/). Not only did we have the opportunity to eat, drink and relax on the Valiant but we also got to tour the "Lexington" which is their largest capacity boat and their newest boat "Happy" which is absolutely adorable and their smallest - perfect for 20 people (hello elopements)! Johnny Burke Catering - you cannot go wrong with ANY of their food and their catering staff is so kind and personable! We were treated to an incredible spread of meats, cheeses, crostinis, fresh fruits and vegetables, micro beef sliders, mini chicken and waffles, mini bruschetta, corn and edamame bowls, fresh melon squares with prosciutto sprinkled on top, shrimp cocktail, fresh marinated nectarines and even fresh chocolate chip cookies and mini ice cream cones! Their website linked above has great sample menus available. Their spread was not only delicious but also beautiful and also included some passed around. If you're looking for a local Boston catering company you can not go wrong and they work with many different venues. The Valiant in my opinion is definitely the most luxurious feel of the fleet, it's a 97" yacht with a canopy deck on top and an elegant mahogany bar on each level. The first level has an open air (can be closed off to an extent) seating area with room for cocktail tables and has a built in comfortable cushioned bench seating area. Inside the first level has a gorgeous bar used for cocktail hour with more inside seating. If you continue out front their is ample outdoor seating including two large benches in the middle. Upstairs is where the ceremony is held with the couple at the bow with an incredible view of the Boston City Skyline. After the ceremony guests are moved to the first level for cocktail hour as the top floor is magically converted into a stunning dining space. We were shocked when we watched the catering staff turn over the ceremony seating of rows into round tables with centerpieces! There is even space for a small dance floor after dinner! Their cocktail cruising capacity is up to 120 guests and their full dinner cruise capacity is up to 54 guests. To us this was the perfect size for a more intimate wedding! There is space for a DJ or other entertainment as well. Please let us know if you'd like more information just ask or follow this link: charlesriverboat.com/events/wedding-events/ Also check out our other blog posts more specifically about the Valiant and Tricia & Travis's Wedding Day. Now for the NEW vessel - Happy!Meet "Happy" - Charles Riverboat Company's newest vessel! Happy is a custom built 36' boat that can accommodate up to 20 guests. It's perfect for "intimate outings, proposals, company gatherings and other social events,"(Charles Riverboat information flyer). We also think that Happy would be perfect for an elopement or intimate ceremony - immediate family and closest friends or even just the "happy" couple! Johnny Burke can still cater this even via "drop catering" and there is a full bar, bluetooth sound system, Rowes Wharf dockage with option to dock for a meal in the Seaport, flexible cruise times and of course a licensed captain and crew on board. Event coordinator Georgie also had the great idea to have a photographer posing as a crew member should you want a secret proposal to happen on board! This unique vessel being so small would probably only need one photographer unlike most of our other weddings and events. The open air back seating section can also be closed off more if it is raining during your event. Happy is filling a gap in the Charles Riverboat company's vessel sizes - their previous small boat "Carousel" only held up to 6 passengers. Happy starts at $1400 for 2 hours depending on the day of the week. It is also available for both Boston Harbor and Charles River cruises! We also have a sample menu for their events along with bar menu if you're curious just reach out! Check out a tour on our Instagram going live tonight: https://www.instagram.com/apreamedia/ Last but definitely not least - the "Lexington!"The "Lexington" is the largest of the fleet accomodating up to 145 guests for a cocktail cruise and 110 for a full dinner cruise on Boston Harbor. This vessel also boards at Rowe's Wharf (same as the Valiant). The "Lexington" is a 75' "authentic two-level paddle wheel boat," (Charles Riverboat information flyer). Just as the Valiant, it has a full bar and full catering options. There is space for a DJ or other live entertainment and the Lexington has a much larger dance floor! If dancing is important their coordinator Georgie says that THIS is the ship for you! This vessel has even more space to walk or stand outside with more custom cushioned benches as well. It was so fun to tour! In the picture below you can see where the ceremony takes place in front of the door leading out to the bow. This is typically set up with two rows of chairs and then transformed into the set up you see now. On each side there is ample room for a buffet meal if you prefer buffet over served. Upstairs is where the dance floor is! Please check out our Instagram for a full walk through tour going up soon. We had such an amazing night on board the three vessels on the harbor and can't wait to also tell you all about the two river boats, the "Henry Longfellow" and "Charles I" in a separate post. If you're interested in hosting a company outing, corporate day retreat, wedding of any size or engagement please reach out to us! All of the information can be found on their website but we also have pricing and sample menus available. We can also offer week day or wedding size discounts compared to the pricing published on our site. We'd love to hear from you! Celebrating Love and New Beginnings: Alexis and Zach's Intimate Boston Wedding There are moments in life that are so profound, they deserve to be celebrated with love, joy, and those closest to your heart. Alexis and Zach's wedding at the Marriott Long Wharf Boston was one of those moments. This beautiful couple not only celebrated their union but also the upcoming arrival of their first child. Their wedding day was a testament to love, family, and the joy of new beginnings. The Perfect Venue: Marriott Long Wharf Boston Nestled on the picturesque waterfront, the Marriott Long Wharf Boston provided the perfect backdrop for Alexis and Zach's wedding. The venue, known for its stunning harbor views and elegant spaces, offered a blend of modern sophistication and historic charm. For a couple like Alexis and Zach, who value both style and comfort, the Marriott Long Wharf was an ideal choice. Alexis wanted a day of GLAMOUR! Getting Ready Alexis and Zach stayed at the hotel the night prior and were lucky enough to get upgraded from a regular bridal suite to an un-sold corner ocean view terrace suite! The room was just stunning and so spacious. It had many mirrors available to use and even a hook in front of the terrace perfect for getting those hanging dress shots. Alexis had two dresses specially ordered to accommodate her baby bump! Sarah stayed with Alexis to take her getting ready and flat lay photographs and even had the idea to include their ultrasound pictures of their baby boy on their flat lay. John stayed in the "Starlight Lounge" where their ceremony would be held shortly while Zach prepared there with friends and family. The First Look Alexis & Zach wanted to have a private first look in their suite before heading down to their intimate ceremony. The perfect sliding door was in the middle of the suite between the living room and bedroom. We had Alexis in control of the door setting up a "first touch" before the big reveal! A Private Ceremony: Intimate and Heartfelt The afternoon began with a private ceremony attended by just six guests. Alexis and Zach wanted their closest family members to witness their vows in an intimate setting. This private ceremony was held in a private room at the hotel, (the Starlight Lounge) with a huge window with the city and ocean as a backdrop. For Aprea Media, John and I always feel so incredibly honored to be part of such a small and intimate ceremony. As wedding photographers, capturing these intimate moments is a privilege. The expressions on Alexis and Zach's faces as they exchanged vows were pure and heartfelt. Their unique vows were read together as back and forth text, something so fun to witness! Alexis (glowing at 27 weeks pregnant) radiated happiness, while Zach's eyes sparkled with love and excitement for their future together. The quiet whispers, the gentle holding of hands, and the tender glances made for beautiful, candid shots that will be cherished forever. Family Portraits: Under the Arbor Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park Immediately after their ceremony we snuck off to the Boston Waterfront for family portraits under the arbors, a classic Boston portrait location. Sarah had previously done a fitness photo shoot here! With such a small group these portraits were quick and easy. Thanks to AI capabilities editing the tourists from the background was easier than before! Cocktail Hour: A Joyful Celebration Following the private ceremony, the couple was joined by their extended family and friends for a lively cocktail hour. The transition from a quiet, intimate ceremony to a vibrant celebration was seamless. The Marriott Long Wharf's terrace, overlooking the Boston Harbor, was the perfect spot for guests to mingle and enjoy the stunning views. The cocktail hour was filled with laughter, clinking glasses, and warm embraces. As photographers, we focused on capturing the candid interactions between guests. There were heartfelt hugs, joyful reunions, and moments of pure celebration. Alexis and Zach's happiness was contagious, and it was evident that their guests shared in their joy. The Reception:A Night to Remember! As the sun set over the harbor, the reception began. The Marriott Long Wharf's grand ballroom was transformed into a magical space with elegant decor, a grand chandelier, and beautiful floral arrangements. The theme was timeless elegance with a touch of modern sophistication, perfectly reflecting Alexis and Zach's personal style. The reception started with the couple's first dance, a moment of pure romance that left everyone in awe. Alexis looked stunning in her sequin gown (hello reception change!) that gracefully accommodated her growing baby bump, while Zach looked dashing in his tailored suit. Their dance was a beautiful representation of their journey together, filled with love and anticipation for their new adventure as parents. Capturing the Magic: Moments to Cherish Throughout the evening, Aprea Media was able to capture countless magical moments. From the speeches that brought tears to many eyes to the laughter that echoed through the ballroom, every detail was a testament to the love and happiness that surrounded Alexis and Zach. The private cutting of the cake and the lively dancing were all moments that told the story of their special day. A New Chapter Begins The love between Alexis and Zach was palpable, and their excitement for the future was evident. It was a reminder of why we do what we do as wedding photographers – to capture the moments that matter, the moments that tell a story, and the moments that will be cherished for a lifetime. Alexis and Zach's wedding at the Marriott Long Wharf Boston was a beautiful celebration of love, family, and new beginnings. From the intimate ceremony to the joyous reception, every moment was filled with happiness and love. As photographers, we were honored to capture the magic of their special day, preserving the memories that will be cherished for years to come. To Alexis and Zach, thank you for allowing us to be a part of your journey. Your love story is truly inspiring, and we wish you all the best as you embark on this exciting new adventure together. Grace & Sean - May 26, 2024 - Blissful Meadows Golf Club, Uxbridge, MAA Day to Remember: Grace and Sean's Enchanting Wedding at Blissful Meadows Golf Club As wedding photographers, we have the honor of capturing love stories in some of the most beautiful locations. On May 26, 2024, John and I had the pleasure of photographing the enchanting wedding of Grace and Sean at the picturesque Blissful Meadows Golf Club. Nestled in the serene landscapes of Uxbridge, Massachusetts, this venue is a hidden gem, perfect for a romantic and unforgettable wedding day. The Venue: Blissful Meadows Golf Club Blissful Meadows Golf Club is a place where natural beauty and rustic charm meet. The club boasts sprawling green fairways, beautiful forest, and a quaint 19th-century barn that provides a charming backdrop for wedding ceremonies and receptions. The meticulously manicured gardens and the elegant clubhouse further add to the venue's appeal, making it a photographer’s dream come true. On top of how gorgeous the venue is - the staff there was incredible to work with - one of THE BEST we've ever worked with. Cheryl, their coordinator was absolutely fantastic. She truly kept the day running on top and smoothly. She even shuttled not only the couple but also us and grandparents any time we needed a golf cart! The Couple: Grace and Sean Grace and Sean are one of those couples whose love radiates in every glance, every touch, and every smile they share. Grace, with her effortless elegance and warm demeanor, looked every bit the fairy-tale bride. Sean, with his charming personality and evident adoration for Grace, complemented her perfectly. Together, they created a dynamic that was both heartwarming and inspiring. They met through Sean's mother who worked with Grace! Grace was placed in her classroom as a teaching assistant and Sean's mom just knew Grace would be the perfect daughter-in law! Their wedding day was a celebration of their journey, surrounded by family and friends who had been part of their story. The day began in the historic clubhouse, where Grace and her bridesmaids were getting ready in the Bridal Suite and Sean was getting ready with his Groomsmen and the dads in another room. The suites buzzed with excitement and laughter as hair and makeup artists worked their magic and shots were passed around in the men's room! Grace’s dress, a stunning creation of lace and tulle, hung in the corner near a stunning vintage mirror, waiting to transform her into a bride. As she stepped into her dress, the room fell silent, everyone mesmerized by her beauty. Sean’s suit, tailored to perfection, added an air of sophistication to his already handsome appearance. As he adjusted his cufflinks and straightened his tie, you could see the anticipation and excitement in his eyes. The First Look One of the most intimate moments of the day was the first look. We chose a secluded spot in the barn, where the sunlight filtered through a crack in the sliding barn doors. Sean stood with his back to the door on the inside of the barn, waiting for Grace to be revealed as the coordinators slid the doors open. When Sean turned around, his expression of awe and love was priceless. They embraced, sharing whispers and tears, a moment just for them before the whirlwind of the day continued. We continued on to do some intimate portraits of just the two of them before lining up for their ceremony. The Ceremony The ceremony took place on the lawn, white chairs adorned with flowers lined the aisle, leading to a beautifully decorated arch. The sky was a perfect shade of blue, with fluffy clouds adding to the idyllic scene. A storm was due to arrive right at 4pm, the same time as their ceremony. A few sprinkles came and brought in beautiful dramatic clouds allowing us as photographers the very best lighting for their pictures! The rain held out and moved on bringing the bright sun the rest of the day! As the music started, the bridal party made their way down the aisle, followed by Grace on the arm of her father. Sean’s eyes never left Grace, his love for her evident in every glance. The ceremony was heartfelt, filled with personal vows, laughter, and happy tears. Their first kiss as husband and wife was met with cheers and applause, a perfect end to a beautiful ceremony. They even gave us all a bonus kiss halfway down the aisle together! The Reception The reception was held in the barn, its rustic charm enhanced by elegant decor. Twinkling fairy lights and lanterns created a warm and inviting atmosphere. The tables were adorned with flowers and candles, creating a romantic ambiance. Grace and Sean’s first dance was a highlight of the evening. They moved gracefully to a song that held special meaning for them, their smiles and whispered words telling a story of love and happiness. The dance floor soon filled with guests, everyone eager to join in the celebration and what a dance floor it was!! Speeches from family brought laughter and tears, each one a testament to the love and admiration everyone felt for Grace and Sean. The evening was filled with joy, from the cutting of the cake to the huge group picture. Every moment was a celebration of love, friendship, and the start of a new chapter in Grace and Sean’s life together. Grace and Sean’s wedding at Blissful Meadows Golf Club was a day filled with love, joy, and unforgettable moments. From the stunning venue to the heartfelt ceremony and lively reception, every detail was perfect. It was an honor to be part of their special day, capturing the magic and love that surrounded them. As wedding photographers, days like this remind us of why we love what we do. How to Get the Perfect First Dance Pictures from Your Wedding Photographer Your wedding day is a tapestry of moments stitched together, each one precious and fleeting. Among these moments, the first dance stands out as a timeless expression of love and unity. Capturing this magical dance perfectly requires a combination of preparation, communication, and artistry. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to ensure your wedding photographer in Norwood, Massachusetts captures those perfect first dance pictures you'll cherish forever. 1. Choosing the Right Photographer - (obviously we hope this is us)! Research and Recommendations - Start by researching wedding photographers in Norwood, Massachusetts and surrounding areas. Look at their portfolios, paying particular attention to their ability to capture moments filled with emotion. Recommendations from friends, family, and online reviews can also guide you to a reputable photographer. Check out our testimonials tab for our rave reviews! Meeting with Photographers - Set up meetings with potential photographers to discuss your vision. A good photographer will be willing to listen and offer suggestions based on their experience. This is also a great time to assess their personality and professionalism, ensuring you feel comfortable with them. We always do a first meeting on Zoom and go from there. We're happy to do coffee or drinks too! 2. Communication is Key Discuss Your Vision - Clearly communicate your vision for the first dance. Whether you envision a romantic, soft-focus capture or a vibrant, energetic shot, your photographer needs to know. Share examples from their portfolio or other sources that resonate with you. 3. Venue Walkthrough Arrange a walkthrough of the venue with your photographer. This allows them to assess lighting, angles, and potential obstacles. For Massachusetts venues, which can vary from elegant ballrooms to rustic barns, this step is crucial in planning the best shots. Is there enough room around you on the dance floor for your photographers to work? Some spaces are very tight! If seats are right up against the dance floor it's important that while dancing you make sure to make full 360 degree turns to give your photographers every opportunity. 4. Lighting Discuss the venue's lighting with your photographer. Will there be spotlights, fairy lights, or candles? Will your DJ have lighting set up? Photographers need to know this to bring the necessary equipment to balance and enhance these lighting conditions. 5. The Dance Itself Practice Makes Perfect - Rehearse your first dance multiple times. While spontaneity has its charm, being comfortable with your steps ensures you can focus on each other rather than the mechanics of the dance. A relaxed couple looks better in photos. Emotion and Expression - Concentrate on the emotional connection between you and your partner. Smile, laugh, whisper sweet nothings, or simply lose yourselves in each other’s eyes. Genuine emotions are what make the photos special. Practice both looking at a pretend camera - put your cheeks together or one of you puts your head against the other's chest. It's important to get a few shots while both looking in the same direction. 6. Technical Aspects Camera Settings - Experienced photographers will adjust their camera settings to suit the environment. High shutter speeds can freeze the motion, while lower shutter speeds can create a beautiful blur, conveying movement. Aperture and ISO settings will be adjusted for the perfect exposure. Lens Choices - Discuss lens preferences with your photographer. Wide-angle lenses can capture the grandeur of the venue, while prime lenses can focus on the intimate details of your expressions. John and I both use different focal lengths while simultaneously shooting so that while we are shooting the same thing, you have variety in how your photographs will look. 7. Trust Your Photographer Give Creative Freedom - While it's important to communicate your vision, also give your photographer creative freedom. Trust in their expertise to capture moments you might not have considered. Often, the most memorable photos are the spontaneous ones. It's so important to hire someone you feel trust in - not just someone who might fit your budget. Poses and Candid Shots - Your photographer will likely suggest some posed shots, but candid shots often turn out to be the most authentic. Allow your photographer to blend these approaches for a diverse collection of photos. 8. Post-Processing and Edits Editing Style - Discuss the editing style you prefer. Some couples like a bright, airy feel, while others might prefer a more dramatic, moody tone. Your photographer’s editing style should align with your vision. You should be hiring your photographer because you like their style - not expecting them to change their editing based on the style you like. Great edits take time! While we are occasionally able to finish a gallery faster than average, it's not always the case. This tends to happen if you're the first or second of our busy season. Our average turn around time is 6 weeks. For the majority of photographers, especially weddings - our hard work and the most time consuming isn't on your actual wedding day - it's the back end of processing. We backup your photographs immediately, have to cull through thousands of images to select the best and then hand edit each image. Each hour of your wedding day takes Sarah approximately 8 hours of editing work! 9. Creating an Album Selecting Photos - When selecting photos for your album, choose a mix of wide shots, close-ups, and candid moments. This variety will tell a complete story of your first dance. Consider investing in a professionally designed album, our middle and highest package both include a print credit or album. Photographers often offer this service, ensuring your photos are presented in the best possible way. We can also offer Save The Date cards from your engagement session and Thank You cards after your big day! Your first dance is a moment of pure magic, and with the right preparation, communication, and trust in your photographer, you can capture it perfectly. By choosing a skilled wedding photographer in Norwood, Massachusetts, and following these tips, you’ll ensure your first dance photos are a beautiful, timeless reflection of your love story.
