Amanda and Bobby’s wedding story continued this September with a beautiful reception at the Newport Naval Officer’s Club, and it felt like the perfect sequel to their intimate June ceremony in Newton. While their first celebration focused on family, faith, and the quiet beauty of a Sunday afternoon vows, their Newport reception brought together vibrant cultural traditions, heartfelt moments, and one of the most unforgettable sunsets I have ever seen.

Their reception day began under gray skies as steady rain settled over the base. Newport is known for its sweeping coastal views and endless photo opportunities, and we had all hoped to use the large lawn overlooking the water. But like many New England weddings, the weather had its own plans. What could have been a disappointment turned into a beautiful reminder that joy doesn’t weather-check itself. Amanda and Bobby took it all in stride, smiling, laughing, and fully embracing the cozy, romantic feel the rain brought to the day.
Despite the weather, Naval Station Newport provided stunning backdrops for their portraits. The deck overlooking the water gave us shelter, and even on a rainy afternoon the view was classic Newport. The base sits on the west side of Aquidneck Island and offers one of the most iconic perspectives of the Newport Bridge. From this vantage point, you can see the bridge stretching across Narragansett Bay with the Naval War College standing proudly nearby. The bridge is visible from many parts of the station, and even on a cloudy day it remains a breathtaking landmark. It’s no wonder this perspective is one of the most photographed scenes on the base - especially at sunset.

​And, almost magically, sunset delivered. Just when we had accepted that the rain would rule the day, the clouds parted at the perfect moment. A warm glow broke through, casting golden light across the bay and painting the Newport Bridge in hues of pink, orange, and lavender. It was the kind of sunset you remember for years—the kind that feels like a reward for patience. Amanda and Bobby stepped onto the deck once more, and the light wrapped around them in a way that felt meant to be. What started as a rainy, gray day transformed into something extraordinary.

Inside the Officer’s Club, guests were treated to an evening that beautifully celebrated both Amanda’s and Bobby’s cultures. They planned an Indian and Polish fusion reception that felt joyful, colorful, and wonderfully personal. One of the standout moments was the Bali dance performance, which filled the room with movement, rhythm, and such vibrant energy that every guest was captivated. The evening’s menu blended flavors from both of their backgrounds, offering dishes that honored where they each come from. And of course, there was the famous mango lassi - rich, creamy, sweet, and an instant hit with everyone who tried it.
Because this reception was the continuation of their wedding celebration, the events of the night were heartfelt and intentional. Amanda and Bobby shared a beautiful first dance, swaying together under soft lights with the glow of Narragansett Bay behind them. Their connection is gentle and steady, and moments like this always bring that out in such a natural way.
The speeches were thoughtful and emotional, with family and friends sharing stories, blessings, and words that made it clear just how loved this couple is. Amanda and Bobby have a quiet strength as a pair, and it was touching to see how everyone around them recognizes and admires that.

​One of the sweetest parts of the evening came during their cake cutting. Instead of keeping the moment just between the two of them, they included their parents in the celebration. It was a small gesture that meant so much - a sign of gratitude, legacy, and the blending of two families. Moments like these are the heart of wedding photography: simple, sincere, and full of meaning.

As the night went on, the dance floor filled with energy and laughter. Guests celebrated freely, and Amanda and Bobby radiated happiness the entire time. Being able to see them again after photographing their intimate ceremony in June felt like such a joy. Watching their wedding story evolve from a quiet church basement to a vibrant Newport celebration was truly special.
Despite the rain, despite the unexpected changes, their reception was nothing short of beautiful. The sunset felt like a gift, the cultural fusion brought life to every moment, and the love between Amanda and Bobby shone just as brightly as it did the day they said their vows.
